Recommended Reading from Dennis & Georgia Miller

Dennis & Georgia Miller have spent several decades ministering to couples in the area of sexual and relational wholeness. Here is an annotated reading list and website recommendations they provided for us.
Swipe Right by Levi Lusko
This is a fairly new book and an excellent one according to Dennis & a number of men who have read it.
Rethinking Sexuality by Dr. Juli Slattery
Can Christians reclaim sexuality in a broken culture? God’s design and why it matters.
Living With Your Husband’s Secret Wars by Marsha Means
This is probably the best book I’ve read on what a wife goes through when her husband is an addict. It is very honest and real-to-life.
Restoring the Fallen by Earl and Sandy Wilson
One of the most helpful books to us in our restoration process. Honest about struggles and especially unique information regarding the formation of an accountability team to walk along side you.
Surviving Your Worst Nightmare by Patti Snodgrass
The Healing Path by Dan Allender
This book was so helpful to me personally in beginning my healing journey separately from my husband’s. I have recommended this book and given a number of them away because it’s so good.
Into Abba’s Arms by Sandra D. Wilson
This book is important to me for several reasons. Much of my pain had to do with feeling God had abandoned me and this book calls the fearful into God’s arms where we find comfort and healing.
Shattered Dreams by Larry Crabb
I recommend this book highly as one that shows us what our real purpose in this world is. Hard questions are asked and answered about where God is when your world has fallen apart. Does He care? Why doesn’t He answer our cries for help in a timely manner?
Grieving: Our Path Back to Peace by James R. White
Great little book on the basics of grieving, the stages and the reasons. Regardless of the trauma that causes grieving, the steps through it are the same. Grieving must be done thoroughly to bring about the healing God desires for us.
Boundaries in Marriage by Henry Cloud and John Townsend
Setting boundaries is foundational in recovery. This book gives practical examples and maybe most importantly shows a person that they are not alone in not having any.
Pure Desire by Ted Roberts
Ted Roberts is the pastor of East Hill church in Gresham and tells his own story of addiction and restoration. There is a lot of good information in this book and especially appeals to men since it’s on the macho side.
Free Yourself to be Yourself by Alan Wright
This book is the best I’ve read about releasing us from the bondage of shame. This is an important book to me.
The Wounded Woman by Dr. Steve Stephens & Pam Vredevelt
A very good book about the wounds that we carry around, the damage they do, and the freedom that is available.
Broken on the Back Pew by Sandy Patti
This is Sandy’s own story of moral failure, recovery and restoration. Very honest and heart-rending.
Abba’s Child by Brennan Manning
A very healing book; great for showing the real relationship that God wants with His children and underscoring our value to Him.
The Shadow Christian by Al Cole
A man’s story of his journey. This was a tear jerker for me but good. Probably good to read later on in recovery.
Making a Quilt Out of Cobwebs by Georgia Miller
A woman’s story of her recovery from the emotional trauma of her husband’s sexual addiction. (What can I say? This is my book and I’ve been told it’s great in helping women understand and express their pain in addition to helping spouses understand the harm they’ve done.
Co-Dependent No More by Melody Beattie
This book made me laugh to see myself so clearly!
Shattered Vows by Debra Laaser
This is one of the best books so far.
Your Sexually Addicted Spouse, How Partners Can Cope and Heal by Barbara Steffens and Marsha Means
for those who have experienced divorce as a result of addiction.
